Scalp Micropigmentation in Dubai

The appearance of fuller hair. A carefully designed hairline.

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) creates tiny pigment impressions that resemble closely shaved hair follicles or reduce the contrast between thinning hair and the scalp.

Whether you want the appearance of greater density, a defined shaved look or camouflage for a healed scalp scar, your treatment starts with a personalised assessment.

What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-surgical cosmetic tattooing procedure. Small dots of pigment are implanted into the scalp to create the visual impression of hair follicles.

SMP can produce two main effects:

* Density enhancement: reducing visible scalp between existing hairs.

* A closely shaved appearance: creating follicle-like impressions across areas of hair loss.

SMP does not grow new hair, strengthen existing follicles or stop hair loss.

Who can benefit from SMP?

SMP may be suitable for men and women concerned about:

* A thinning crown or visible scalp.

* A widening hair part.

* A receding hairline.

* More extensive hair loss where a shaved appearance is desired.

* Reduced visual density following a hair transplant.

* Suitable, fully healed hair transplant or injury scars.

Suitability depends on the cause of hair loss, scalp health, existing hair and your expectations.

Sudden, patchy or unexplained hair loss should be medically assessed before cosmetic treatment.

SMP for Women

SMP can help soften the appearance of a widening part or thinning areas by reducing scalp visibility beneath existing hair.

The treatment is planned around your hair distribution, usual hairstyle and natural colour.

It does not replace a medical assessment of female hair loss or treatment for its underlying cause.

SMP for Men

Create a closely shaved look

For men with more extensive hair loss, SMP can create the appearance of short hair follicles and a carefully planned hairline.

The design considers your facial proportions, age, remaining hair and possible future hair loss. Maintaining a close shave may be necessary for a consistent appearance.

Reduce visible scalp in thinning areas

Where enough hair remains, SMP can reduce the contrast between hair and scalp, helping the hair look visually fuller.

It adds the appearance of density—not actual hair volume.

Scalp scar camouflage

SMP may reduce the contrast of selected, fully healed scalp scars, including some scars following hair transplantation.

Scar tissue can retain pigment differently from surrounding skin. A test area may be recommended, and the scar’s texture or outline may remain visible.

Raised, inflamed or unstable scars require medical assessment before treatment is considered.

How do we plan a natural-looking result?

Your SMP design considers:

* Your natural hair colour and skin tone.

* The distribution and density of your remaining hair.

* Your preferred hairstyle.

* Hairline shape and age-appropriate placement.

* The size, spacing and gradual blending of pigment impressions.

* Possible changes in your hair loss over time.

The aim is a balanced appearance that works with your existing features. An exact match under every lighting condition cannot be guaranteed.

Your treatment journey

  1. Consultation and scalp assessment

We discuss your hair loss history, scalp condition, previous procedures, medical history and desired appearance.

Medical review may be recommended if the cause of hair loss is unclear or the scalp shows signs of disease.

  1. Design and treatment planning

We agree on the treatment area, proposed hairline where relevant, pigment shade and expected visual effect.

A test area may be advised, particularly for scar tissue or a history of skin reactions.

  1. Pigment application

Tiny pigment impressions are placed across the selected area. You may feel repeated pinpricks or scratching. Sensitivity varies, and comfort options are discussed beforehand.

  1. Gradual refinement

Treatment is usually built over several appointments, allowing the scalp to heal and pigment retention to be assessed before adding further detail.

  1. Healed review

We review the settled result and discuss whether further refinement is appropriate.

How many sessions will I need?

SMP generally requires multiple sessions. The number depends on the treatment area, scalp condition, desired effect and pigment retention.

Your consultation provides an individual estimate. Appointment length and spacing are adjusted to the treatment plan and healing response.

When will I see results?

A visual change may be noticeable after the first appointment, but the immediate result is not the final result.

Fresh pigment can look darker or more defined before it settles. The overall appearance is assessed after healing and completion of the planned sessions.

Healing and recovery

Temporary redness, tenderness, mild swelling, dryness or light flaking can occur.

You may need to adjust exercise, washing, shaving and headwear during early healing. Your practitioner will provide instructions suited to your scalp and treatment.

Seek advice promptly if you develop increasing pain, spreading redness, discharge or other unexpected symptoms.

How long does SMP last?

SMP is a tattoo-based procedure. Pigment can remain in the scalp for many years, although its intensity and shade may change.

Maintenance may be considered as pigment fades or your hair loss pattern changes. There is no guaranteed date when the pigment will disappear

Sun exposure, skin characteristics and treatment technique can affect its long-term appearance.

Aftercare

Follow your written aftercare instructions, including guidance on:

* When and how to wash your scalp.

* When to resume shaving and hair products.

* Avoiding picking, scratching and friction.

* Temporarily avoiding heavy sweating, swimming, saunas and soaking.

* Keeping hats, helmets and anything touching the scalp clean.

* Protecting the healed scalp from sun exposure.

Discuss topical hair-loss products with your practitioner and prescribing clinician so application can be coordinated around healing. Do not stop prescribed treatment without medical advice.

Safety and suitability

Possible risks include infection, allergic reactions, scarring, uneven pigment retention, pigment spreading and unwanted colour changes.

Treatment may need to be postponed or avoided if you have active scalp inflammation, infection, open wounds or certain skin conditions.

Tell your practitioner about keloids, poor healing, medication, allergies, previous scalp tattoos and recent hair transplantation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Explore our FAQ section to learn all about our Scar Camouflage services, results, and aftercare. We’ve answered the most common questions to help you feel calm and confident before your session. Still curious? We’re only a quick call away!

Will SMP grow my hair back?

No. SMP creates an optical effect using pigment. It does not stimulate hair growth or treat the cause of hair loss.

Will it look like real hair?

SMP creates the appearance of tiny follicles or scalp shading. It does not create individual strands, length or physical volume.

Do I need to shave my head?

Not always. Density treatments can be performed beneath existing hair in suitable cases.

For extensive baldness, a closely shaved hairstyle usually helps the pigment impressions blend with remaining hair.

Can SMP be combined with a hair transplant?

It may complement a healed transplant by reducing scalp visibility or camouflaging suitable donor scars. Timing should be agreed with your transplant surgeon.

What if I lose more hair later?

Further hair loss may change how the treatment looks. Future adjustments may be possible, which is why long-term hairline and density planning matter.

What if my hair turns grey?

Changes in your natural hair colour can affect the visual blend. This should be discussed during consultation, especially when treating beneath longer hair.

Can I have SMP with alopecia?

Some cases may be considered after dermatological assessment. Suitability depends on the type of alopecia, disease activity and scalp condition.

Can I exercise or swim afterwards?

These activities need to be paused during early healing. You will receive specific guidance on when to restart them.

Can SMP be removed?

Laser removal may be possible in some cases, but it can require multiple treatments and carries risks. SMP should be chosen as a long-lasting procedure.

How much does SMP cost?

Pricing depends on the size of the area, complexity, scar involvement and proposed treatment plan. A personalised quotation is provided after assessment.

Find the right SMP approach for you

Send clear photographs of your hairline, crown, sides and any areas of concern in natural light.

Photos help begin the discussion. Final suitability, design and pricing are confirmed during consultation.

Find the right approach for your scar

Send clear, unfiltered photos in natural light, along with the scar’s age, cause and any previous treatments.

Results vary. SMP creates the appearance of hair density or shaved follicles; it does not regrow hair. Before-and-after images should identify healed results and use comparable lighting, hair length and styling.
