What is stretch mark camouflage?
Stretch mark camouflage is a form of cosmetic tattooing. Pigment is implanted into suitable stretch marks to reduce the visible difference between the lighter marks and the surrounding skin.
The shade is selected to work with your natural, untanned skin tone. The aim is a softer contrast and a more blended appearance—not complete invisibility.

What can it improve?
Camouflage primarily addresses colour.
It may help pale or white stretch marks appear less noticeable, but it does not remove scar tissue, fill indentations, tighten loose skin or prevent new stretch marks from developing.
The marks may still be visible under certain lighting or when viewed closely.
Who may be suitable?
Suitable candidates often have stretch marks that are:
* Fully healed and stable.
* White or noticeably lighter than the surrounding skin.
* Free from active irritation, infection or inflammation.
* Suitable in texture and condition for pigment implantation.

Fresh red or purple stretch marks, darker marks and raised or unstable scars usually require a different assessment rather than immediate skin-tone tattooing.
How is the colour matched?
Colour matching considers your skin’s undertone, natural shade and the contrast within the treatment area.
Pigment looks different when freshly applied compared with when it has healed. A test area may be recommended to assess healing and colour retention before treating a larger area.
An exact match in every light, season and skin condition cannot be guaranteed.
What happens during treatment?

- Colour planning
A custom pigment blend is selected for your natural skin tone. A test area may be advised.
- Pigment application
Pigment is carefully implanted into suitable stretch marks. The size and complexity of the area determine appointment length.
- Healing and review
The colour is allowed to heal and settle before the result is assessed. Further work may be recommended to refine uneven retention or the colour blend.
Results and healing
Immediately after treatment, the area may look redder, darker or warmer than expected. Swelling, tenderness, light crusting and uneven-looking colour can occur during healing.
The fresh result is not the final result. We assess the colour once the skin has healed and the pigment has settled.
More than one session may be needed. Results depend on skin characteristics, pigment retention, aftercare and the size of the area.

How long does camouflage last?
Camouflage is a tattoo-based treatment. Pigment can remain in the skin for many years, even if it fades or changes shade.
There is no guaranteed date when it will disappear. Future colour adjustments may be considered, but repeated treatment is not automatically suitable for every person.
What happens if I tan?
Implanted pigment does not tan like your surrounding skin. If your skin becomes darker, the colour match can become less accurate.
Avoiding tanning and maintaining sun protection help reduce changes in contrast. Colour matching should be carried out on skin without a recent tan.
Aftercare
Your written aftercare plan may include:
* Keeping the area clean and following the recommended skincare instructions.
* Avoiding picking, scratching and tight clothing that rubs.
* Avoiding swimming, soaking, saunas and heavy sweating during early healing.
* Avoiding tanning and protecting healed skin from the sun.
* Waiting for approval before using active skincare or having another procedure on the area.
Safety and future treatments
Possible risks include infection, pigment allergy, colour mismatch, uneven retention, colour changes and scarring.
Tell any future laser or skin-treatment provider that the area contains camouflage pigment. Certain flesh-toned pigments can darken with laser treatment, and pigment removal can be difficult.

Is camouflage the same as inkless treatment?
No. Camouflage adds skin-coloured pigment to reduce contrast. Inkless treatment adds no coloured pigment and aims to improve the appearance and texture of the stretch marks.
Will my skin look completely smooth?
Camouflage does not change the underlying structure of a stretch mark. Texture may remain visible even when the colour is better blended.
Can you camouflage every skin tone?
A range of skin tones can be assessed. Suitability depends on the contrast, undertone, texture and healing response—not skin tone alone.
Can I have camouflage after inkless treatment?
Sometimes. The area must first heal fully and become stable. We then assess whether a colour difference remains and whether pigment would provide a useful improvement.
Can I have laser hair removal over the area?
Tell your laser provider about the pigment before treatment. Do not assume laser hair removal or other energy-based treatments can be applied directly over a camouflaged area.
Can I have it after pregnancy?
Post-pregnancy stretch marks can be assessed once they have healed and stabilised. Pregnancy, breastfeeding and changes in the skin should be discussed before booking.
